Strzelecki County, located in the eastern part of the Opole Voivodeship, was established in 1999 as a result of the administrative reform. Its seat is the town of Strzelce Opolskie, and it comprises the urban-rural municipalities of Kolonowskie, Leśnica, Strzelce Opolskie, Ujazd, and Zawadzkie, as well as the rural municipalities of Izbicko and Jemielnica. The region is home to localities with a rich history connected to Upper Silesia. Strzelecki County is characterized by its architectural monuments, including churches and public utility buildings, which reflect local traditions and cultural diversity. In 2019, the county's population was 74,300, and by June 2020, it had decreased to 74,171, suggesting certain demographic changes. Honorary citizens of the county include Eugeniusz Szymaniec, the long-term director of the Vocational School Complex, Father Werner Szygula, the parish priest in Ujazd, and Jan Cieślik, the director of the General Secondary School. Neighboring counties, such as Kędzierzyn-Koźle, Krapkowice, Opole, and Olesno, as well as counties in the Silesian Voivodeship, indicate the integrated nature of the region. Interestingly, the history of local communities, their traditions, and inter-municipal cooperation contribute to the enrichment of local cultural and social life.
