Szadek is an urban-rural municipality located in the Łódź Voivodeship, within the Zduńska Wola County, with its administrative seat in the town of the same name. It is worth noting that until 1870, it functioned as the Starostwo-Szadek municipality, and between 1975 and 1998, it was part of the Sieradz Voivodeship. The municipality covers an area of 151.65 km², of which 73% is agricultural land and 21% is forest land, making it an area of significant natural diversity. As of December 31, 2007, the municipality had a population of approximately 7,331 people.
Within the municipality lies the Jamno Nature Reserve, which protects natural oak-fir forests characteristic of subcontinental mixed forests, highlighting the richness of the local flora and fauna. Szadek is home to numerous village administrative units, such as Boczki, Choszczewo, Dziadkowice, Górna Wola, and Wyżory, as well as several smaller settlements, including Antonin, Jamno, and Kromolin, making the municipality a dispersed area.
