Tarnawatka is a rural commune located in the Lublin Voivodeship, within Tomaszów Lubelski County. It is home to the Skrzypny Ostrów Nature Reserve, which protects a fragment of an old-growth mixed forest with a valuable stand of Polish larch. The commune covers an area of 82.66 km², with 63% of its land used for agriculture and 26% covered by forests, making it rich in natural resources. Tarnawatka includes several villages, such as Dąbrowa Tarnawacka, Huta Tarnawacka, Kunówka, and Tarnawatka-Tartak. As of June 30, 2004, the commune had a population of 4,135.
