Telatyn is a rural municipality located in the Lublin Voivodeship, in Tomaszów County. Between 1975 and 1998, it belonged to the Zamość Voivodeship. The administrative seat of the municipality is the village of Telatyn. As of June 30, 2004, the municipality had a population of 4,529. In the 2007 parliamentary elections, the Polish People's Party (Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe) received as much as 72.7% of the vote here, which was a record level of support in the region. The municipality covers an area of 109.66 km², of which 88% is agricultural land and 6% is forested, indicating the agricultural character of the local community and a significant area of usable land. Telatyn consists of numerous village districts (sołectwa), including Dutrów, Franusin, Kryszyn, Łachowce, and Wasylów. It borders the municipalities of Dołhobyczów, Łaszczów, Mircze, and Ulhówek. The area is characterized by traditional rural architecture, representing local building styles, and its history reflects the community's strong ties to agriculture and folk culture. The natural richness of the surrounding forests and fields also significantly shapes the local landscape and ecosystem. Demographically, the population of the municipality is diverse in terms of age, as reflected in the age pyramid, which shows changes in the population structure.
