wikipedia
Tenczynek is a village located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, within the Kraków County, in the municipality of Krzeszowice. Its history dates back to the 14th century, when the village was founded by Nawoj of Morawica. From its very beginnings, Tenczynek served a supporting role for the nearby Tenczyn Castle. The village is home to the Parish Church of St. Catherine, built between 1728 and 1742, which houses valuable Baroque and Renaissance elements, and its crypts conceal the remains of the last member of the Tęczyński family. In the 19th century, Tenczynek was known for its brewing industry, and the beer produced in the local brewery received accolades, including a gold medal at the exhibition in Pilsen in 1904. The architecture of Tenczynek also includes the Neo-Gothic Zwierzyniec Gate, as well as historic houses and a rectory. The village is surrounded by beautiful nature, including the Dulowska Forest, making it an attractive destination for tourists. Tenczynek also has a rich history of coal mining, dating back to the 17th century, with numerous mines in the area that were active until the mid-20th century. An interesting fact is that Jan Magnus Tęczyński is buried in the church crypts, and among the notable figures associated with Tenczynek are the poet Teofil Lenartowicz and engineer Jerzy Litwiniszyn. Tenczynek is a place where history, culture, and nature come together in one harmonious whole, offering residents and tourists rich opportunities for exploration and discovery of local traditions.
