The Cathedral of Zamość Sacral Museum

The Zamość Cathedral Sacral Museum, previously known as the Collegiate Church Sacral Museum, is located in Zamość and operates under the parish of the Cathedral of the Resurrection of the Lord and St. Thomas the Apostle. The museum is housed in two historic buildings: the Vicarage (Wikarówka) and the Infułatka, both dating back to the 17th century. The institution was opened in 1987 on the initiative of Jan Tomasz Zamoyski. After a renovation carried out between 2018 and 2019, the museum reopened in its renewed spaces, offering two main exhibitions: "The Treasury of History, Art, and Science" and "Fabrica Ecclesiae – Museum of Technology and Architecture." The exhibits include unique artifacts of sacred art, such as the coronation alb of King Michał Korybut Wiśniowiecki and liturgical vestments from the 16th and 17th centuries. The museum also displays liturgical vessels, reliquaries, votive offerings, church books, as well as portraits of the ordynats (estate administrators) and canons of Zamość. An interesting aspect is the museum's location in historic buildings situated near the cathedral, which enhances its architectural and cultural significance. The museum is open to visitors year-round, with full accessibility during the summer season.
