wikipedia
The Church of the Holy Maccabee Brothers is an Orthodox sanctuary church located in the Krynoczka forest glade, near Hajnówka, within the Białowieża Forest. Built in 1846, it is an example of wooden sacral architecture and features an oriented, single-nave log structure. The church has a spacious, covered front porch, and its presbytery is smaller than the nave, rectangular in shape, with a side sacristy. The roofs are covered with sheet metal, and above the nave, there are two turrets topped with onion domes. In 1989, a vestibule was added, and in 2017, the church was entered into the register of monuments under number 606. The church is not only a place of prayer but also a destination for numerous Orthodox pilgrimages, reflecting its cultural and religious significance. The liturgical life at the sanctuary is rich, with regular services, including special celebrations during Easter, Pentecost, and the feast of the Holy Maccabee Brothers, which falls on August 14. Services include Matins, the Divine Liturgy, and All-Night Vigils, with additional ceremonies organized during the summer. On the first Sunday of each month, an akathist is performed in honor of the Icon of the Theotokos "Inexhaustible Chalice." The church serves as both an important place of worship and a key element of local culture, bearing witness to the region's history and uniting the faithful through shared prayers and traditions.
