wikipedia
The Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Pruszków, located in Tworki within the complex of the Tworki Hospital, was originally built as an Orthodox church between 1904 and 1906. Its construction aimed to serve the Russian staff of the psychiatric hospital, and the church was dedicated to St. Alexius, Metropolitan of Kyiv. After the Russians left the territory of the Kingdom of Poland in 1915, the church was abandoned and its furnishings were removed. In 1928, the building became the property of the Catholic Church, and its reconsecration took place in 1930. During its adaptation into a Catholic church, many original elements were preserved, such as the flooring and frescoes, while artworks created by a hospital patient, 19th-century paintings, and an organ were introduced into the interior. Architecturally, the structure references the medieval sacred style of the Armenian Apostolic Church, making it unusual in the context of Russian architecture of that period, which was often characterized by Byzantine-Russian styles. The church was designed by Piotr Fedders, whose works are similar to the church in Lisin, designed by Nikolai Benois. Interestingly, the architectural style of the church saved it from major renovations, allowing it to retain its original appearance and become a witness to the complex history of the region.
