The Happy Dog Monument

The Happy Dog Monument, located in Pole Mokotowskie (Mokotów Field) in Warsaw, was unveiled on October 2, 2004, to mark World Animal Day. The initiative to erect the monument was taken by the monthly magazine "Cztery Łapy" ("Four Paws"), and the sculpture was designed by artist Bogna Czechowska. The model for the sculpture was a golden retriever named Lokat, a therapy dog belonging to the Przyjaciel Foundation. The monument symbolizes a happy dog that is loved and well cared for, reflecting the idea of human love and commitment toward four-legged friends. There are also other dog-dedicated sculptures in Poland, located in cities such as Kraków, Kazimierz, Białystok, and Wrocław's Psie Pole, which demonstrates growing social sensitivity toward the welfare of animals. Through its architectural design, the monument at Pole Mokotowskie aims not only to celebrate the bond between humans and dogs but also to promote respect for all animals in our society.
