The Higher Missionary Seminary of the Priests of the Sacred Heart in Stadniki has a rich history that began during World War II, when the Sacred Heart seminarians first arrived in Stadniki in 1940. The final settlement took place on May 22, 1944, when a group of novices reached the manor of the Michalik family. In 1946, the new religious house was officially established, and the construction of the novitiate and church began in 1947. The blessing ceremony of the buildings took place on September 19, 1948, and the first priestly ordinations of the seminarians followed in the subsequent years. After the house was closed down in 1954 by the communist authorities, the Sacred Heart priests had to stay in Krakow until 1956. At that time, the activities of the seminaries were restored, and the theological seminary was established in 1956. Over the years, the principles and regulations for the intellectual and spiritual formation of the seminarians were shaped and adapted to changing socio-cultural conditions. Cooperation with the Pontifical Academy of Theology in Krakow, which began in 1980, enabled students to obtain a master's degree in theology. The seminary leads a rich academic life, organizing various classes, symposia, language courses, and engaging seminarians in the life of the local community. Under the documents regulating formation, seminarians acquire philosophical and theological knowledge and develop pastoral skills, which prepares them for their future pastoral ministry. Interestingly, the seminary continuously adapts its teaching programs and collaborates with various universities, ensuring high-quality education.
