The Chata na Zagroniu is a mountain tourist shelter located in the Beskid Żywiecki range, in the picturesque hamlet of Zagroń in Rajcza, at an altitude of about 700 meters above sea level. The facility is housed in a over-a-hundred-year-old highlander’s cottage, which for some time served as a private center for folkloric education, highlighting its cultural significance in the region. The shelter is owned by the Interuniversity Branch of PTTK in Katowice and managed by the Student Circle of Beskid Guides, which gives it a youthful spirit and openness to tourists. The accommodation conditions are modest, offering around a dozen sleeping spaces and basic amenities such as electricity and cold running water, though the sanitary facilities are located outside. The shelter operates mainly on weekends, and in winter by prior arrangement. Numerous marked hiking trails are available in the vicinity of the shelter, including routes leading to popular destinations such as the PTTK Shelter on Hala Lipowska and Hala Rysianka, as well as a bike trail from Złatna. Additionally, from the shelter, one can set out on hikes toward Nickulina and Redykalny Wierch, making it an attractive base for mountain hiking enthusiasts. The shelter not only preserves the traditions of highlander architecture but also serves as a meeting point and a hub for sharing knowledge about local culture, making it an interesting place both for tourists and for students seeking experiences in communion with nature.
