wikipedia
The Czernichów Inn is a historic building located in the municipality of Czernichów, Kraków County, which has been entered into the register of monuments of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. The building, with its long colonnade of stone arcades, is currently in a state of ruin (as of 2022). Its history dates back to at least 1848, when it appeared on the cadastral plan of the village of Czernichówek. It was known as a meeting place for raftsmen and Jews, and, interestingly, King John III Sobieski stayed there on his way to Vienna in August 1683. In the 19th century, it underwent a partial reconstruction when wooden elements were replaced with brick ones. Until 2008, it housed a butcher's shop. After its closure, the building was acquired by a private investor who did not undertake any renovation work, leading to its deterioration, and a fire caused significant damage. In 2020, the property was sold to a company specializing in the rescue of historic monuments, which began collaborating with experts to inventory and design reconstruction work. The inn, representing the Classicist style, is brick-built, plastered, with a high pitched roof covered with tiles. It features a long front arcade, and inside there are flat ceilings, a sail vault in the former hallway, and barrel vaults in the cellars. The reconstruction plan aims to restore the building to use, reflecting the growing importance of preserving local architecture and culture.
