The Bonifrater Monastery Complex in Cieszyn is a historic church and monastery, serving as a significant landmark on the city's historical map. Funded by Adam Borek, the regional marshal of the Duchy of Cieszyn, it was constructed between 1697 and 1714 according to a design by Michał Klein. The architecture of the complex represents the Classicist style. The church features a rectangular floor plan, with a music choir at the front and a vestibule housing two chapels. The interior is adorned with a late Baroque main altar crafted by Jan Jerzy Lehnert, distinguished by its rich decoration and a Baroque painting of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Additionally, the church includes two side altars in the late Baroque style. The monastery and church have undergone numerous renovations while preserving their historical character. Beyond its religious function, the church was associated with the operation of a hospital and pharmacy, established on Borek's initiative. The hospital, initially small, expanded over the years and now boasts over 100 beds, providing care to people of various faiths and nationalities. Today, the monastery serves as a Social Welfare Home run by the monks. The Bonifrater Monastery Complex stands as an important cultural monument, blending history, architecture, and the social mission of the order.
