The Museum of Natural History of the Wielkopolski National Park in Jeziory

The Wielkopolska National Park Natural History Museum, located in Jeziory, houses collections related to the park's ecosystem and boasts a rich history dating back to 1952, when the first museum was opened in Puszczykowo. It was initiated by renowned naturalists, including Antoni Wiśniewski. The museum building is the former residence of Arthur Greiser, a war criminal, which adds historical and architectural context to the institution. In 1998, the museum was relocated to a new site, allowing for better use of space and the creation of an Ecological Education Center, which attracts 10,000 to 15,000 visitors annually. The exhibits are diverse and include ecological dioramas, insect collections, and fascinating fish aquariums. The museum also features commemorative plaques honoring Professor Adam Wodziczko, the initiator of the park's establishment. Additionally, a nearby lapidarium displays interesting boulders and stone elements, highlighting the local geological context. This museum not only educates but also brings the remarkable history of the region closer, blending natural aspects with recent history.
