wikipedia
The Prochownia Manor Complex, located in Nawojowa Góra in the Krzeszowice municipality, is a significant architectural monument from the 18th century, whose history and architecture reflect the social and cultural changes of the eras it has witnessed. The brick manor, rebuilt in 1925 by mining engineer Karol Gustaw Domański, is characterized by thick walls, a steep shingle roof, and a tower on the western side. The renovation, designed by architect Leon Wilmann, gave the villa a Renaissance appearance, serving as an interesting example of the influence of Italian architectural style on Polish construction. The complex also includes a gardener's house, a stable with a coach house, and a landscape park, creating a harmonious whole with its natural surroundings. The manor was linked to the history of the gunpowder storage facility, and its destruction in the 19th century, followed by subsequent reconstructions, illustrate various aspects of social life. At one time, the building housed displaced persons from Warsaw after World War II, adding new layers to its history. Currently, the manor has two separate owners, and its connections to the Domański family are intertwined with local history. The interiors, furnished with Lviv-style furniture, consoles and mirrors, and a kitchen in the Zakopane style designed by Stanisław Witkiewicz, showcase the cultural richness of this place. The Prochownia Complex is not only a testament to the past but also an example of how contemporary life and history intertwine in this architecturally and culturally rich space. Thanks to the efforts of the Association of Lovers of the Krzeszowice Land, the history of this place is preserved and cultivated, highlighting its importance to the local community. The presence of an ornately attired stable, a garden with alleys, and orchards adds aesthetic value, creating a harmonious space full of discoveries for both history and architecture enthusiasts.
