wikipedia
The Dom Zdrojowy (Spa House) in Jastrzębie-Zdrój is a historic post-sanatorium building located in the picturesque Spa Park in the Zdrój district. Built in 1862 by Feliks von Königsdorff, it represents the Swiss style and is characterized by its half-timbered construction. The interior of the building initially served therapeutic purposes, with treatment cabins and a saline spring, and also offered various amenities such as a café, reading room, ballroom, and casino, which led to it being popularly referred to as the "Szwajcarka" (Little Switzerland) or "Kasyno" (Casino) for many years. From a historical perspective, the Dom Zdrojowy played a significant role in the development of the spa town, attracting patients and tourists. In the 1990s, the building underwent a thorough modernization, allowing it to retain its unique character. Today, its interiors house a café, the Municipal Cultural Center, the Jastrzębie Photography Club "Niezależni" (Independents), and the Society of Lovers of the Jastrzębie Land, making it an important cultural hub for the city. Interestingly, despite the passage of time, the Dom Zdrojowy continues to attract both residents and tourists, playing a vital role in the cultural life of the region.
