The Rozrywka Theatre in Chorzów, founded in 1985 as the State Theatre of Entertainment, is housed in a historic building that once served as an elegant hotel and a cultural center, featuring rich architectural details. The theatre brings together various artistic ensembles — including drama, vocal, ballet, and orchestra troupes — enabling a diverse repertoire that spans both Polish and international musicals, dramas, and concerts. Notable directors have included Dariusz Miłkowski and Aleksandra Gajewska. The institution employs around 100 artists, among them a children's choir, which enhances its appeal. Its repertoire includes classic musicals such as *Man of La Mancha* and *Evita*, as well as Polish works like *Betlejem polskie* and *Panna Tutli Putli*. The theatre is also actively involved in production, having staged adaptations such as Dostoevsky’s *Crime and Punishment*. Since 2001, it has introduced monodramas and ballet performances. Another key aspect is its concert programming, which has featured renowned artists such as Michał Bajor, Grzegorz Turnau, and the band Dżem. The origins of the Rozrywka Theatre date back to the 1970s, when the idea emerged to create a Music-Hall affiliated with TVP Katowice. Despite challenges related to the political climate at the time, the theatre finally opened in 1985. Its rich repertoire and professional ensemble have made it a significant cultural hub in the region, and its annual Summer Performance Review enjoys great popularity. Located in the city center, the theatre attracts both art enthusiasts and tourists, offering unforgettable artistic experiences.
