Grzmiąca is a rural municipality in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, within the Szczecinek County, with its administrative seat located in the village of Grzmiąca. Situated on the Białogard Plain and near the Bytów and Drawsko Lake Districts, the municipality borders the communes of Barwice, Szczecinek, Tychowo, and Bobolice. Until 1998, it belonged to the Koszalin Voivodeship and now constitutes 11.6% of the county's area, inhabited by 6.5% of its population. The municipality boasts rich natural resources, with the Parsęta River marking the border with the Barwice commune, and forests covering 34% of its territory. The area has limited transportation infrastructure, featuring only one provincial road and several railway stations that are no longer operational. Grzmiąca is home to historical landmarks such as a church dating back to 1600, a 19th-century water tower, and the palace of the von Glasenapp family, which now houses the Municipal Office. The municipality prioritizes education, offering two primary schools and a kindergarten. In 2016, the municipal budget amounted to PLN 19.3 million, with debt accounting for 32.8% of its income. Grzmiąca also has a fascinating history, documented in Ludwig Wilhelm Brüggemann's 1784 records detailing the economic and social life of the area, as well as architectural heritage linked to the Glassenapp family, who significantly influenced the development of local noble estates.
