The commune of Tokarnia, located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship within Myślenice County, covers an area of 68.85 km², of which 45% is agricultural land and 47% is forested. According to data from 2004, the population was 8,029, and by 2019 it had increased to 8,820. The commune is divided into six village districts: Bogdanówka, Krzczonów, Skomielna Czarna, Tokarnia, Więciórka, and Zawadka. The history of the commune dates back to before 1954, when Tokarnia was part of the Łętownia commune. Between 1975 and 1998, the commune was part of the Kraków Voivodeship, and it now constitutes 10.23% of the county's area. Tokarnia is known for its rich cultural and architectural traditions, including wooden buildings that reflect the regional style. The commune also holds great importance for the local community due to its natural and forest resources.
