Tresna

Tresna, a village in the Silesian Voivodeship situated in the Soła River valley, boasts a rich history and significant tourist appeal. Its name derives from the nearby Mount Trześnia, and originally the village was known as Trześnia. Tresna features a wooden belfry from 1933, which has been restored multiple times, including in 2013. The structure has a post-frame design and can accommodate over a dozen people. Another key landmark is the dam built in 1966, which transformed the region into an attractive tourist destination by creating Lake Żywieckie, offering a wide range of accommodation and recreational opportunities. Tresna is renowned for its scenic hiking trails, including the blue trail leading from Lipnik through the local mountains. Historically, Tresna was part of the Duchy of Oświęcim. The first recorded mention of the village dates back to 1626, when Queen Constance established the parish endowment. The partitions of Poland brought administrative changes, and the village’s 16th-century economy was based on agriculture and timber rafting. In the 20th century, Tresna underwent significant transformation after World War II with the development of tourist infrastructure. It is also worth noting that the village thrived with holiday resorts that attracted tourists, despite temporary financial challenges in the 1990s. Tresna plays an important role as a recreational center, blending its rich history with modern tourist attractions, making it a charming and appealing destination for visitors.
