Trzciana Municipality, located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship within Bochnia County, lies in the Western Carpathians, part of the Mountain Province, which translates into rich natural resources and diverse ecosystems. Forests cover most of the municipality's area, encompassing various forest communities, with only fragments of primeval forests found near the summit of Mount Kamionna. The municipality is also part of the Protected Landscape Area of the Wiśnickie Foothills, highlighting its ecological significance. The Kamionna Nature Reserve protects ancient trees designated as natural monuments. The water network in the municipality is well-developed, with the main watercourse being the Sanecki Stream, along with numerous smaller streams.
The municipality has a rich administrative history; it was established in 1934, revived in 1994 after being dissolved in 1972. Today, it is home to over 5,400 residents and consists of seven village districts.
