Uścimów is a rural commune in the Lubartów County of the Lublin Voivodeship, with its administrative seat located in Stary Uścimów. Covering an area of 108.61 km², the commune has an agricultural and tourism-oriented economy, dominated by the cultivation of grains and potatoes. In terms of land use, 64% is agricultural land, while forests account for 20%. Between 1975 and 1998, the Uścimów commune was part of the Lublin Voivodeship. It is worth noting that the name of the commune's seat was officially changed from "Uścimów" to "Stary Uścimów" on January 1, 2012. According to demographic data, the commune had a population of 3,379 in 2004, which slightly decreased to 3,256 by the end of 2017. The area is rich in lakes and fishponds, making it attractive for tourism, particularly fishing and cycling. There are 10 lakes within the commune, as well as fishponds covering 247 hectares. Uścimów consists of 17 localities, including villages such as Drozdówka, Głębokie, and Ochoża. It borders the communes of Dębowa Kłoda, Ludwin, Ostrów Lubelski, Parczew, and Sosnowica.
