University of Life Sciences in Lublin

The University of Life Sciences in Lublin, formerly known as the Agricultural Academy, is a public natural sciences university established in 1955. It integrates diverse fields of science such as agriculture, biology, veterinary medicine, engineering, and socio-economic sciences. Its history dates back to 1944 when the first faculties were created within the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University. In 1955, the institution was established as an independent entity with agricultural and veterinary faculties, and its first rector was Professor Bohdan Dobrzański. Over the following decades, the university expanded, creating new faculties such as Horticulture and Landscape Architecture or Production Engineering. In 2008, the university changed its name to the University of Life Sciences in Lublin. In the 21st century, it developed its infrastructure by adding new buildings, including the main library, the Innovation and Implementation Center, and an animal pathology center. The university offers studies in 51 fields across seven faculties and has the authority to confer academic degrees, including doctorates and habilitated doctorates in agricultural and veterinary sciences. The campus in Lublin features modern educational buildings, a library, veterinary clinics, and research centers. Student life is rich with activities, including the student government, scientific circles, and cultural institutions such as the Academic Choir and the "Jawor" Song and Dance Ensemble. The university is also active internationally, participating in the Erasmus+ program and cooperating with partner institutions in various countries. Interestingly, besides academic activities, the university promotes culture and folklore by organizing events such as Feliniada as part of the Lublin Days of Student Culture.
