wikipedia
Leszna Górna is a rural administrative village (sołecka) within the Gmina Goleszów, located in Cieszyn County, Silesian Voivodeship. Situated in the valley of the Lesznianka River, on the border between the Silesian Beskids and the Cieszyn Foothills, the village offers picturesque views, including peaks of the Moravian-Silesian Beskids. The history of Leszna Górna dates back to the 13th century, when it was first mentioned in a document by the Bishop of Wrocław as part of the larger Duchy of Cieszyn. The village was the property of the duke, as emphasized in historical records. In the past, it also had an evangelical community, and its local Catholic parish was established during its founding period. Despite the division of Cieszyn Silesia in 1920, the village has preserved its character and traditions. Architecturally, it is distinguished by the Parish Church of St. Martin, built between 1719 and 1731 in the late Baroque style, and valuable artifacts such as the tombstone of the knight Czelo of Czechowice. Within Upper Leszna, there are also historic monuments, including a statue of St. John of Nepomuk. Culturally, the village is known for the activities of local organizations, such as the Volunteer Fire Department, established in 1902, and the table tennis club "LKS Lesznianka." Leszna Górna is also the birthplace of many notable figures, including politicians and regional activists. In recent years, the village has become an attractive destination for tourists, offering cycling and hiking trails, as well as a new sports field and playground. An interesting fact is the existence of a former border crossing with the Czech Republic, which was closed in 2007. Although small, the village boasts a rich cultural and historical heritage that attracts visitors from various regions.
