Lower Ustronie, a historic district of Kłodzko, is situated on the left bank of the Nysa Kłodzka River and has roots dating back to the Middle Ages, when it functioned as a suburban settlement. In 1890, Ustronie was incorporated into the city limits. From an architectural perspective, the buildings in Ustronie are concentrated around Półwiejska and Skośna Streets, with architecture from the late 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries dominating the area. Within the district, there is the branch church of St. Ignatius Loyola, built in 1880 in the Neo-Gothic style, and a complex of buildings from former meat processing plants dating back to the early 20th century. Ustronie is a settlement with an agricultural and industrial character, though it lacks dedicated recreational areas. Residents make use of nearby playgrounds and meadows, and in the summer, they enjoy the Nysa Kłodzka River. Ustronie is a place where the Roman Catholic faith predominates, and its residents are primarily affiliated with the Parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Throughout its history, Ustronie has played an important role in events related to the development of Kłodzko; the village was repeatedly destroyed by wars, and in the 16th century, a brickyard was established on the slope of Szpitalna Górka. In the 20th century, following administrative and social changes after World War II, Ustronie maintained its distinctly agricultural character but began to develop with the construction of a railway line and the emergence of industry. Today, Ustronie is home to several hundred residents who benefit from urban public transport and available industrial facilities, including the Galeria Twierdza Kłodzko shopping center, opened between 2008 and 2010, which houses hypermarkets and a variety of stores. Although Ustronie has no educational institutions of its own, it is part of the school districts of adjacent primary schools in Kłodzko, reflecting its integration with the larger city. Despite its history and industrial presence, the district retains the communal character of a small settlement, creating a unique atmosphere in this part of Kłodzko.
