wikipedia
Włocławek, located in central Poland on the Vistula River, is one of the country's oldest cities, with a rich history dating back to pre-Piast times. Its name is derived from the name Władysław and first appeared in the 12th century. The city boasts numerous historic sites, including the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Gothic church with the oldest stained glass windows in Poland and the Romanesque tomb of Bishop Piotr of Bnin. Other notable landmarks include the late Gothic Church of St. Vitalis and the neo-Gothic building of the Higher Seminary. Włocławek also has a rich cultural tradition, with institutions such as the Browar B Cultural Center and the Impresaryjny Theater, which host numerous artistic events. The city organizes festivals like the International Street Theater Festival "Brukarnia" and Włocławek Days, as well as sailing regattas on Lake Włocławek. Industrial architecture, including former factories, testifies to the city's rich economic past. An interesting fact is the plan to restore and adapt the former Kruszyn airport for small passenger traffic. In 2002, Włocławek gained Blessed Michał Kozal as its patron saint, and its international cooperation includes partnerships with cities such as Bedford in the United Kingdom and Mogilev in Belarus.
