Warszawa Główna, formerly known as Warszawa Główna Osobowa, is a railway station located in the Wola district of Warsaw. From its opening in 1945 until 1965, it served as the capital's main railway station. After being closed to passenger traffic in 1976 and suffering a long period of degradation, the station was rebuilt, and passenger services were restored in 2021. Architecturally, it reflects the modernist style, and modern elements, such as the four-span footbridge put into use in 2022, enhance accessibility and passenger comfort. In a cultural context, Warszawa Główna is a location that appears in numerous films, novels, and music videos, highlighting its significance for local culture. Historically, the station witnessed important events, including the defense of Warsaw in 1939, and it played a key role after World War II when the former freight station was transformed into a central transport hub. An interesting feature was the Night Market, which operated on the station grounds, offering street food and concerts, as well as the collections of Stacja Muzeum, which exhibit historic railway rolling stock. The station is also well-connected, making it easily accessible by tram, bus, or urban rapid transit trains.
