Więcbork is an urban-rural municipality located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, with the town of Więcbork serving as its administrative seat. The municipality boasts a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. Between 1975 and 1998, it belonged to the Bydgoszcz Voivodeship. According to data from 2008, the population was 13,507, with 5,973 people residing in the town of Więcbork. The municipality covers an area of 235.71 km², predominantly consisting of agricultural and forest land. The area is home to nearly forty lakes, the largest of which is Lake Więcborskie, and also features St. Catherine's Hill, standing at 190 meters above sea level. The municipality is protected within the Krajna Landscape Park. Więcbork and the surrounding localities are home to numerous architectural monuments, including churches, palace complexes, and cemeteries. Among the most notable sites are the Evangelical church in Pęperzyn from 1778, the parish church in Więcbork built between 1772 and 1778, and the palace complexes in Suchorączek and Sypniewo. The area also abounds with historical curiosities, such as the remains of the castle of the Dukes and Counts Zebrzydowski, and the hunting palace of Polish President Ignacy Mościcki. The municipality features parish, Evangelical, and Jewish cemeteries, as well as several unregistered monuments that testify to the region's rich past. Places of worship include not only churches but also historical sites tied to local traditions. Więcbork Municipality is also active in sports, with football clubs and various non-governmental organizations, including the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association and the Rural Housewives' Circle.
