The municipality of Wierzbno, formerly known as the municipality of Ossówno, is located in the Masovian Voivodeship, within Węgrów County. Between 1975 and 1998, it belonged to the Siedlce Voivodeship. The administrative seat of the municipality is the village of Wierzbno, and as of June 30, 2004, the population was 3,189. The municipality covers an area of 103.09 km², of which 75% is agricultural land and 20% is forested, making it a significant agricultural region. Wierzbno is rich in natural resources and includes the Las Jaworski Nature Reserve as well as the Natura 2000 protected area, Ostoja Nadliwiecka, which aims to preserve valuable and endangered habitats and species. The municipality consists of numerous villages, such as Adamów-Natolin, Brzeźnik, Cierpięta, Filipy, Wąsosze, and Ossówno, reflecting a diverse settlement structure.
