Witkowo is an urban-rural municipality in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, within the Gniezno County, with its administrative seat located in the town of Witkowo. Between 1975 and 1998, the municipality belonged to the Konin Voivodeship. It covers an area of 184.4 km², of which 65% is agricultural land and 21% is forested. The municipality constitutes 14.7% of the total area of Gniezno County. Demographically, as of December 31, 2019, Witkowo had a population of 13,539 people. The municipality has a rich administrative structure, encompassing numerous village districts (sołectwa) such as Chłądowo, Czajki, and Gorzykowo, as well as other localities like Głożyny and Królewiec. It is bordered by the municipalities of Gniezno, Niechanowo, Orchowo, Powidz, Strzałkowo, Trzemeszno, and Września. Witkowo holds a notable place in history as an important local center. Culturally, the municipality promotes traditions and local customs, organizing various events that bring the community together.
