Wydminy is a rural commune with its administrative seat in the village of Wydminy, located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, within Giżycko County. The commune boasts a rich history dating back to before 1990, when it began to be reorganized administratively. Between 1975 and 1998, Wydminy was part of the Suwałki Voivodeship. According to data from 2014, the commune had a population of 6,503, which decreased to 6,233 by 2019. The commune covers an area of 233.46 km², of which 61% is agricultural land and 20% is forested, highlighting the importance of agriculture in the region. The mayors who have governed the commune since 1990 have supported its development, with Radosław Król serving as the last mayor before the current mayor, Anna Binik. The Wydminy commune is also home to numerous village administrations, such as Gawliki Małe and Gawliki Wielkie, as well as picturesque settlements, making the area attractive to both residents and tourists.
