Zakrzew is a rural commune in the Masovian Voivodeship, within the Radom County, with its seat located in the town of Zakrzew. The commune was established as a result of the administrative reform in the Kingdom of Poland in 1867, when the collective commune of Zakrzów was created. Thus, the history of the commune dates back to the 19th century, and in the past, it had a population of 2,520. Over the years, its population has grown, reaching 12,719 inhabitants in 2016 and 13,222 in 2019. Zakrzew covers an area of 96.30 km², predominantly comprising agricultural land (78%), including arable land (76%) and orchards (4%). The commune is also characterized by forested areas (15%) and other lands (7%). Zakrzew is an important transportation hub, traversed by major roads such as the S7 expressway, as well as several county and municipal roads. In 2023, Public Transport Zakrzew was launched, featuring electric buses. An interesting fact is the new bus lines providing connections to Radom, which enhances the region's accessibility. The commune includes numerous villages, such as Dąbrówka Nagórna, Gulin, and Zakrzew-Kolonia, reflecting its diverse local structure. Due to its historical, agricultural, and transportation significance, Zakrzew is an important part of the Radom region.
