Zakrzewo is a rural commune located in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, within the Złotów County, with its administrative seat in the village of Zakrzewo. From 1975 to 1998, it was part of the Piła Voivodeship. The commune covers an area of 162.52 km², of which 46% is agricultural land and an equal share is forests, creating a diverse landscape. According to data from June 30, 2016, the commune was inhabited by 4,974 people, and by the end of 2019, this number had decreased to 4,905. Administratively, Zakrzewo is divided into several village districts, including Czernice, Głomsk, Kujan, and Śmiardowo Złotowskie, as well as smaller localities such as Dzierząźno and Karolewo. The commune stands out for its abundance of water bodies, with as many as 13 lakes, including Lake Głomskie and Kujan Mały. This region is often praised for its natural attractions, including stunning views of lakes and forests, which draw nature enthusiasts. In terms of architecture, although the commune is not known for monumental structures, it charms with its traditional rural buildings that capture the attention of tourists. An interesting fact is that Zakrzewo is not only picturesque but also plays a significant role in local culture, organizing various festivals and events that bring the community together. Its proximity to the communes of Lipka, Więcbork, and Złotów makes it an excellent base for exploring the entire region.
