Zamojski Museum in Zamość

The Zamość Museum in Zamość, a self-governing cultural institution established in 1926, is housed in Armenian tenement houses near the town hall. Its main goal is to promote the culture and history of the region. The museum boasts the largest collection of Gothic people's culture in Poland, as well as extensive exhibits related to the history of Zamość and its surrounding areas. It features four permanent exhibitions, including "Zamość, the Zamoyskis, and the Zamość Ordynacja" and "Folk Art of the Zamość Region," which showcase both local history and artistic traditions. At its branch, the Fortifications and Weapons Museum Arsenal, multimedia presentations on the history of the fortress and the development of military technology are displayed. The museum gained new exhibition opportunities with the opening of the Professor Marian Konieczny Sculpture Gallery in 2014, which enriches Zamość's cultural offerings. It is also worth noting that the Zamość Museum, under the direction of figures such as Maria Lorentz and Andrzej Urbański, has undergone numerous changes to adapt its collections and activities to the needs of modern visitors, thereby attracting crowds of tourists interested in the cultural heritage of this unique city. Interestingly, the museum also has an exhibition space in the Former Cossack Casino on Planty, which further diversifies its offerings and contributes to the promotion of art and the cultural heritage of the region.
