The Zapolice Commune is a rural municipality in the Łódzkie Voivodeship, located in the southern part of the Zduńska Wola County, 10 km from Sieradz and 7 km from Zduńska Wola. Its seat is the village of Zapolice. The commune covers an area of 81.11 km², of which 77% is agricultural land and 14% is forested, highlighting its agricultural character. The soils in the commune are conducive to the cultivation of wheat, barley, and sugar beets, making it a region developed in agricultural production. Within the commune, there are four forest complexes and the Korzeń Nature Reserve, which protects unique peat bogs and phytocoenoses. The southern part of the commune lies within the Landscape Park of the Warta and Widawka Interfluve, adding to its natural appeal. The commune has a rich history dating back to before 1998 when it was part of the Sieradz Voivodeship. In 2004, the population was 4,688, and the demographic structure, revealed through analyses of residents' age, indicates a typical rural community. The commune includes many villages such as Beleń, Branica, Holendry, and Ptaszkowice, as well as settlements without village status, reflecting a diverse settlement structure. It borders communes such as Burzenin, Sędziejowice, and Widawa, fostering cultural exchange and regional cooperation. With its agricultural character, rich natural resources, and historical heritage, the Zapolice Commune is an interesting area within the Łódzkie Voivodeship.
