The Metropolitan Transport Authority (ZTM) is an organizational unit of the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis, established on November 22, 2017, to efficiently manage public transport across 57 cities and municipalities, making it the largest public transport organizer in Poland by area. ZTM took over the responsibilities of previous transport organizers, such as KZK GOP and MZKP, which contributed to the integration of the transport services. It offers transport services on over 500 lines (buses, trams, trolleybuses), serving nearly 7,000 stops. Daily, around 1,500 vehicles are in operation, and passengers can use the Dynamic Passenger Information System, which provides real-time departure updates. As part of its diverse ticketing system, ZTM introduced single-use tickets, multi-journey tickets, and Metrotickets, allowing unlimited travel across various metropolitan zones. Metrotickets, available in different price variants, enable the use of urban transport as well as certain railway connections. ZTM strives for continuous development and service improvement, including the introduction of new lines, infrastructure modernization, and adapting transport services to meet the needs of people with disabilities. Throughout its operations, ZTM has received numerous awards, including the "Friendly Employer 2020" title and recognition in the nationwide Masz Głos competition, highlighting its contribution to building relationships with local communities. The director of ZTM is Małgorzata Gutowska, supported by a team of deputies, ensuring efficient management and the implementation of development plans.
