Zawonia is a rural municipality in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, within the Trzebnica County, with its administrative seat located in the village of Zawonia. The history of the municipality dates back to the period between 1975 and 1998, when it was part of the Wrocław Voivodeship. According to data from 2011, the municipality had a population of 5,755, which increased to 5,919 by 2020. The municipality encompasses several localities, including Kopiec, Pomianowice, Radłów, and many others, with a diverse demographic structure that can be illustrated through an age pyramid. In 2002, the area of the municipality was 118.12 km², of which 56% was agricultural land and 37% was forested; this area constitutes 11.52% of Trzebnica County. Zawonia includes numerous village administrative units, such as Budczyce, Cielętniki, and Grochowa, reflecting the rich structural diversity of the municipality. It borders other municipalities, such as Długołęka, Dobroszyce, and Krośnice, fostering local cooperation and cultural exchange.
