wikipedia
Zembrzyce is a picturesque village located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, known for its rich cultural and architectural heritage. The village features a noble manor house built between 1807 and 1810, which now serves as an Occupational Therapy Workshop and accommodation facility. The manor was thoroughly renovated and put into use in 2011, and its surroundings are adorned with a driveway and remnants of a garden. Zembrzyce is also home to other historical monuments, including a neo-Gothic church from the early 20th century, built on the site of an earlier 16th-century temple. Inside, visitors can admire early Baroque altars and a valuable painting of the Virgin Mary with Child. Zamczysko Hill is a reminder of an ancient defensive settlement, and the village abounds with chapels and roadside shrines. Zembrzyce has a rich history—its first mention dates back to 1333, and over the centuries, it was owned by various noble families. In 1533, a parish was established here, significantly influencing the village's development. A fire in 1914, which destroyed over 100 houses, led to the creation of a local fire brigade. In the 20th century, Zembrzyce became a significant center for tanning. Between 2009 and 2023, the village hosted a retreat and recreation center, which was transformed after being sold by PKP. Zembrzyce is also the birthplace of several notable Poles, including peasant activist Szczepan Fidelus, architect Jan Sas-Zubrzycki, and painter Jan Talaga. The village stands out for its convenient transportation access, featuring a PKP train stop and several bus stops.
