wikipedia
The Zwierzyniec Gate is a neo-Gothic monument from the second half of the 19th century, located in Tenczynek, in the Krzeszowice municipality of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, and is listed in the register of historical monuments. It serves as the entrance to Zwierzyniec, part of the Zwierzyniec Forest, which once belonged to Tenczyn Castle. It is the last of the four gates that have survived to this day. The structure is decorative, featuring tall brick towers (pillars) on both sides of the road, adorned with sculptures of animals, including falcons and greyhounds. The gate consists of six pillars, with the two central ones supporting the main gate topped with a deer motif. Above it all towers an openwork frame bearing the coat of arms of the Potocki family, the then-owners of the surrounding lands. Smaller side gates are situated between a pair of lower pillars. Between 2011 and 2012, the gate underwent renovation, which helped preserve its architectural and cultural value. Returning to its historical significance, the gate is not only an example of rich neo-Gothic architecture but also a symbol of the region's cultural heritage and its connection to the noble history of the Potocki family. Interestingly, its style references medieval architectural forms, making it a unique structure in the landscape of Lesser Poland.
