Świętajno

Świętajno is a rural commune in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, located in Olecko County. Its administrative seat is in the village of Świętajno. From a historical perspective, the commune belonged to the Suwałki Voivodeship between 1975 and 1998. The commune covers an area of 214.91 km², of which 55% is agricultural land and 25% is forested, giving it significant importance in the region's agriculture and forestry sectors. According to demographic data, in 2008 the commune had 4,218 inhabitants, but by the end of 2019 this number had dropped to 3,883, which may indicate youth migration and an aging population. The Świętajno commune includes numerous village administrative units, such as Barany, Borki, Chełchy, and Cichy, as well as smaller settlements like Cichy Młyn and Jurki. It is worth noting the diverse demographic structure of the inhabitants, which reflects the age pyramid from 2014.
