Trzciel is an urban-rural municipality located in the Lubuskie Voivodeship, within the Międzyrzecz County, with its administrative seat in the town of the same name. Between 1975 and 1998, the municipality belonged to the Gorzów Voivodeship. According to statistical data, in 2004 it was inhabited by 6,348 people, while by 2017 the population had increased to 6,516 residents. The municipality covers an area of 177.35 km², of which 44% is agricultural land and 45% is forested, making it an area rich in natural beauty. Trzciel is known for its three nature reserves: Czarna Droga, which protects a fragment of mixed forest; Jezioro Wielkie, supporting habitats for waterbirds; and Rybojady, which safeguards a unique transitional peat bog. The municipality is also home to several village administrative units, such as Brójce, Chociszewo, and Siercz, as well as smaller settlements like Bieleń and Jabłonka. It is worth noting that Trzciel borders other municipalities, including Miedzichowo, Międzyrzecz, and Świebodzin, fostering regional cooperation. The municipality combines elements of history, culture, and natural beauty, making it an interesting place to visit.
