Warta is an urban-rural municipality located in the Łódź Voivodeship, within the Sieradz County, with its administrative seat in the town of Warta. Between 1975 and 1998, the municipality was part of the former Sieradz Voivodeship. Covering an area of 252.91 km², Warta is predominantly composed of agricultural land (68%) and forests (18%). The municipality constitutes 16.96% of the total area of Sieradz County, and as of June 2004, it was home to 13,160 residents. The central feature of the municipality is the Warta River, which flows into the Jeziorsko Reservoir, near which the Jeziorsko Nature Reserve is situated.
The area boasts several notable natural attractions, including Łysa Góra, the highest elevation in the vicinity, and a natural monument—the Kamionacz pedunculate oak, which is approximately 500 years old. This oak is one of the largest trees of its kind in the region, with a circumference of 782 cm. The municipality of Warta also includes numerous villages, such as Kamionacz, Jeziorsko, and Raczków, as well as smaller settlements like Borek Lipiński and Józefów-Wiktorów.
Warta has a rich cultural heritage and interesting traditions that are cherished by its inhabitants. The municipality borders other communes, such as Błaszki, Dobra, and Sieradz, fostering cultural exchange and regional cooperation. It is worth noting that, in addition to its natural attractions, Warta also possesses a unique architectural character, shaped by local construction styles and the history of the region, making it a place with significant tourism potential.
