wikipedia
The Wiśniew Commune is a rural municipality located in the Masovian Voivodeship, within the Siedlce County. Its seat, the village of Wiśniew, has a rich history, as the commune has existed for a long time, and its area was formerly part of the Siedlce Voivodeship (1975–1998). Demographically, the commune had 5,907 inhabitants in 2004, and by the end of 2019, this number had decreased to 5,747. Despite minor demographic changes, the social structure of the commune retains traditional features of rural life. Wiśniew is characterized by a large agricultural area, which constitutes 72% of its total area of 125.87 km², resulting in a strong connection of the inhabitants to agriculture. The commune also has significant forest resources, with forests covering 21% of its area. The value of the commune lies not only in its agricultural land but also in important transportation routes that pass through the area. The Moscow–Berlin railway line and the national road No. 63 are located here, making the commune an important point on the regional transport map. Wiśniew is surrounded by the communes of Domanice, Łuków, Siedlce, Skórzec, and Zbuczyn, which fosters cooperation and cultural exchange. The commune consists of several dozen localities, including villages such as Borki-Kosiorki, Ciosny, and Mościbrody, enriching its architectural diversity. Members of the local community engage in cultural events and traditions that form the foundation of their identity. In 2014, changes in the demographic structure were implemented, as evidenced by the age pyramid of the inhabitants, indicating an aging society. However, local traditions are preserved in the commune, which may be of interest to cultural researchers. Another interesting fact is that the availability of green and agricultural areas influences the quality of life of the inhabitants, attracting those seeking habitats away from urban hustle and bustle. The Wiśniew Commune certainly stands out in the Masovian Voivodeship, combining tradition with modernity and cultural diversity.
