Kamieńczyk Shelter is a private tourist facility located in the picturesque Karkonosze Mountains, right next to the Kamieńczyk Waterfall in Szklarska Poręba. The history of this place dates back to the 19th century when, between 1848 and 1849, a road was built from Piechowice to the "Józefina" glassworks and to Szrenica Glade, which contributed to an increase in the number of visitors. Initially, there was a small shelter by the waterfall, known as Zackelfallbaude. In the 1920s, under the management of Franz Adolf, the shelter was significantly expanded—a bobsleigh track and a ski jump were built. The facility had 20 rooms and 35 beds, and its conditions were considered comfortable. After World War II, the shelter changed ownership, becoming "Przy Kamieńczyku," and later served as a border guard outpost. In the mid-1950s, the facility was converted into a holiday resort for the Provincial Prosecutor's Office in Wrocław. A fire in 1984 destroyed the building, and in 1985 it was taken over by the Sielecki couple, who restored its tourist purpose. After the construction of a new shelter in 1995 and the addition of a mountain hut in 1999, the place has enjoyed great interest among tourists. The shelter is easily accessible from Szklarska Poręba, making it a popular starting point for trips into the Karkonosze Mountains. The shelter's amenities include 20 sleeping places in double rooms and a dining room with a buffet. In the gallery, an old postcard depicting the shelter from the 1920s and a photo of the modern facility from the winter of 2007 are available. The shelter attracts both mountain enthusiasts and tourists seeking to commune with nature, enjoying the proximity of attractions such as the Kamieńczyk Waterfall.
