wikipedia
Łeba is a picturesque town in northern Poland, located in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, known as a holiday destination with a seaport and bathing areas. It has approximately 3,100 inhabitants and boasts a rich history dating back to the Neolithic era, when Lusatian culture settlements were established in the area. In the 14th century, a Gothic church of St. Nicholas stood here, the remains of which can still be seen today. The first written mentions of Łeba date back to 1282, and the town has undergone many changes, including complete destruction by a storm in 1558, which forced residents to relocate. Architecturally, it is distinguished by the Baroque Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary from 1683 and the Art Nouveau Spa House from 1903, now a hotel. Łeba is a tourist attraction, with summer bathing areas on the beach and proximity to Słowiński National Park, famous for its moving sand dunes. The place gained popularity in the 19th century when the first summer visitors arrived. Today, Łeba offers various cultural attractions, including the National Maritime Museum, as well as summer events when tourism flourishes, including boat connections to nearby towns. The town also has extensive accommodation options, restaurants, and health resorts specializing in respiratory treatments, further enhancing its appeal.
