Żerków

Żerków is an urban-rural municipality located in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, within the Jarocin County. Between 1975 and 1998, it was part of the Kalisz Voivodeship. The seat of the municipality, Żerków, is a town with a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. The municipality covers an area of 170.5 km², of which 76% is agricultural land and 15% is forested. This constitutes 29.01% of the total area of Jarocin County. According to data from 2004, the municipality had a population of 10,599, but this number gradually decreased, reaching 10,248 by the end of 2019. Among the towns and villages that make up the municipality are Antonin, Chrzan, Lubinia Mała, and Pogorzelica. Żerków and its surroundings are characterized by a friendly landscape and a large amount of green space, which supports both agriculture and recreation. It is also worth noting the local traditions and cultural organizations, which reflect the active life of the residents and their care for cultural heritage.
