wikipedia
The Nadwarciański Landscape Park, established in 1995 on an area of 13,428 hectares in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, is one of the key protected areas in Poland, encompassing five municipalities: Pyzdry, Zagórów, Lądek, Rzgów, and Golina. The park protects a unique post-glacial landscape with the Warta River paleovalley, which, by changing its course, has formed numerous oxbow lakes. The area is of ornithological importance—it is considered one of the most important waterbird refuges in Poland, as confirmed by its classification as a "Globally Important Bird Area" by BirdLife International. The park's flora includes approximately 1,070 species of vascular plants, including 57 protected species, and its rich avifauna comprises over 230 bird species. Significant threats to the park include the regulation of the Warta River, the construction of the Jeziorsko Reservoir, changes in agricultural practices, and land drainage, all of which affect the habitats of water and marsh birds. Ecotourism in the park is developing through hiking and cycling trails, as well as educational paths that showcase the diversity of ecosystems and the cultural heritage of the region. The Nadwarciański Cycling Route runs through the park, and water trails are also available in the Warta Valley, making it an attractive destination for exploring this picturesque area.
