Adam Mickiewicz Museum of Literature in Warsaw

The Adam Mickiewicz Museum of Literature in Warsaw, established in 1950, boasts a rich history that began in the early 1950s. The museum is dedicated to preserving Polish literary heritage and engages in educational activities, including exhibitions and publications. It is housed in six interconnected townhouses located in the picturesque area of the Old Town Market Square and Brzozowa Street, giving it a unique architectural character that blends historical buildings with modern exhibitions. The museum's collections include valuable manuscripts, such as the only known autograph of "Grażyna," as well as extensive book collections and personal items belonging to great Polish writers like Julian Tuwim, Leopold Staff, Maria Dąbrowska, and Witold Gombrowicz. The museum also holds a unique exhibit—the only surviving film featuring Witkacy, which was digitally restored in 2015. Over the years, the museum has expanded its activities, developing branches such as the Władysław Broniewski Museum and the Witold Gombrowicz Museum in Wsola. The museum has been led by various directors, each contributing to its growth and initiatives. Currently, Jarosław Klejnocki heads the museum, guiding its development and cultural initiatives since 2010. The Museum of Literature is not only a repository of literary treasures but also a vital cultural hub that connects literature enthusiasts with its rich history.
