All Saints' Church in Szydłów

The All Saints' Church in Szydłów is an example of Gothic architecture from the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries, which underwent renovations in the 16th and 17th centuries. It is characterized by three Gothic portals that lead to the interior, where visitors can admire preserved fragments of Gothic polychrome paintings from the second half of the 14th century. Interestingly, the polychrome, discovered in 1946, illustrates scenes from the New Testament, including the Seven Joys of Mary and the Passion events, giving the church both artistic and cultural significance. The church is also part of the Małopolska Way of St. James—a restored pilgrimage route running from Sandomierz to Tyniec, which fits into the historical context of medieval pilgrimages to Santiago de Compostela. This place not only attracts tourists and pilgrims but also stands as a testament to the region's rich history and religious traditions.
