Szydłów is an urban-rural municipality located in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, within Staszów County, with its administrative seat in the town of Szydłów. Historically, between 1975 and 1998, the municipality was part of the Kielce Voivodeship. Over the years, the population of the municipality has changed, from 5,009 residents in 2008 to 4,679 in 2019. The municipality has a rich history dating back to the times of the Kingdom of Poland, when it belonged to Stopnica County. In 1870, Szydłów lost its town rights and was transformed into an urban settlement. Modern-day Szydłów is characterized by a great diversity of localities, including villages such as Brzeziny, Gacki, and Mokre. The municipality covers an area of 107.53 km², of which 78% is agricultural land and 15% is forested. In 2010, the average income per capita was 2,945.11 PLN, which was below the average expenditure of 3,437.31 PLN. The region borders the municipalities of Gnojno, Pierzchnica, Raków, and others.
